About this trip

This retreat is all about resting. Taking time to do nothing at all. During the retreat we’ll have the opportunity to discover the seven different types of rest, and to put some - if not all - into practice.

But really, this is a chance to lie down and not do very much of anything. To give our bodies the chance to recuperate, to show ourselves some care and attention. To nourish ourselves.

Our sessions will be: mindfulness meditation; yoga nidra (deep relaxation); workshops discussing rest and a sharing circle. We will have the chance to walk in the local area. And plenty of time to do nothing - to journal, to rest. To be.

Overview

We will be retreating to a beautiful spot, not far from Edinburgh (near Ratho). It’s in peaceful surroundings, and there are walks we can go on directly from the accommodation.

We will be staying in comfortable rooms, with a central point to gather in. There is a separate studio for our practices, which is quiet and secluded - the perfect place to unwind. This will be an exclusive retreat with a maximum of 7 people.

The retreat runs from Friday 8th November at 4pm to Sunday 10th November at 4pm. Retreatants are responsible for their own travel arrangements, although if you’re keen to car share let me know and we’ll see if we can make this work.

Please note that it's not possible to bring pets on retreat.

Reviews

I was only there for the day but I had a great time. The schedule was clearly communicated and included lots of interesting activities, lunch was provided and very tasty, there were clear guidelines on what to expect for the day and I was well looked after. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to have a mixed schedule for the day or a few days while also trying something different in a fabulous location.

A fantastic experience. I just needed to rest and find time to be peaceful. Susie and Kirsti looked after us all so well and a set of strangers quickly became friends. There was a lovely feeling of being looked after. I also learnt a lot, and realised the power of rest in all its forms. The location was easy to get to from Edinburgh, the accommodation was great and the food - delicious! Thank you for an all round lovely experience.
